Abstract
The liquid phase within compliant landfill is the leachate generated especially from precipitation concentrated on the active surface of the compliant landfill, but at the same time also generated by the moisture of waste in different stages of decomposition. In a compliant urban waste landfill, the leachate is collected at the level of the landfill via the drainage system. It has the role of collecting and evacuating the leachate so that it does not constitute a pressure on the constructive elements of the compliant landfill. The next natural step in the approach to the liquid phase is purification. This takes place on the site dedicated to the auxiliary constructions of the landfill, within the containerized purification stations based on the combination of physical, biological, chemical or membrane processes such as reverse osmosis or nano-filtration. The paper aims to analyze the factors that influence the generation of leachate and the appropriate ways to treat it.
